“EEK-O-Friendly” Halloween Tips:
Reduce - Instead of giving handfuls of candy treats to your little goblin visitors, give out just one treat; and consider giving recycled newspaper pencils or temporary tatoos, rather than candy. Avoid disposable tableware for parties. Disposable supplies always end up in a landfill.
Reuse - Rent or borrow costumes from local costume shops; or swap your costume for another at the Johnson County Solid Waste Management District”s 5th annual Halloween Costume Swap on October 20th. Your last year”s costume will be a treasure for someone else!
Recycle – Choose items made from recycled products. Look for the recycled content symbol on products to tell if they made from items previously recycled. Compost your pumpkins and gourds for free fertilizer.
