Once the paint is completely dry, it can go into your regular trash for disposal. This method will only work with latex household paint and should not be attempted with other substances or oil based paints or stains.
- We reserve the right to reject large quantities of chemicals or volatile materials. CESQG’s should call the District office for disposal options.
- Materials such as radioactive materials, bio-medical wastes, and explosives WILL NOT be accepted.
If you just have LATEX Paint, please take these steps to dry it out on your own:
Latex paint, also labeled acrylic or water-based paint can easily be disposed of once if completely dried out.
-
1. Remove the lid.
2. Add sand or kitty litter to the paint, stir, and leave in a dry, well-ventilated area such as a porch or garage to completely dry out.
3. Once the paint is completely dried out, you can dispose of it with your regular trash. Be sure to leave the lids off so that your hauler knows there is no liquid left in the can. Never throw away paint that is still in a liquid form.
- Oil based paints such as stains and acrylics must be taken to the Tox Box and are accepted free of charge.
