As of January 1, 2011, Indiana State Law prohibits the disposal of electronics in trash bound for the landfill.

Electronic Collection Hours:

Ring doorbell in the back of the building and we’ll meet you back there.  
It takes us a minute or two, so please be patient.

 Fees for televisions and monitors
(Prices effective July 1, 2015)
 
  • $7.00 for CRT/LCD/flatscreen televisions and computer monitors up to 27″
  • $12.00 for CRT/LCD/flatscreen televisions 28″-47″ (excluding console TV’s)
  • $15.00 for LCD TV’s 48″ or larger
  • $25.00 for all console TV’s or CRT/projection TV’s 48″ or larger
  • Additional fees may be assessed based on the size and weight of the TV
 (Cash or check only.  Checks made payable to JCSWMD)
  
All other electronics are accepted for free at this time.
 
 
We do not accept CRT tubes removed from the TV, lamps, appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, or stoves) 
 
We no longer accept VHS tapes, cassette tapes, or CD’s for recycling.  CD’s can be donated to our Creative Resources reuse center for craft purposes.  VHS tapes can be taken to Plastic Recycling, Inc., 2015 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis (317-780-6100) 
 
  • Please come prepared to remove your electronics from your vehicle yourself or bring assistance with you.  For liability reasons, JCRD staff is unable to assist you. 
  • Do not leave electronics outside the office when the office is closed for lunch, after business hours or on weekends.

The District also accepts:
Cell Phones, Small Electronics, Printer Ink Cartridges
To recycle an old cell phone, PDA”S, BlackBerry”s, SmartPhones, MP3”s and ipods, and ink/laser jet cartridges.  Simply drop them off at the Johnson County Recycling District office at 900 Arvin Rd. Suite A, Franklin, IN 46131.
 (This cell phone and cartridge recycling service is provided by AJ”s recycling.  AJ’s supports persons with special needs and special Olympics of Johnson County.  You may contact them at 317-695-1047 for more information or to set up service at your school or business).
